Zofia Nowicki Steere has been drawing and painting all her life. She grew up
in an artistic and medical family and has studied art in Florida and Italy. She has exhibited in many art shows and competitions
throughout Florida and Arizona, with numerous awards, honors, and publications. Torn by her love of both
art and science, she ultimately decided to pursue a career in medicine. During medical school she
completed many paintings inspired by the patient and doctor relationship. She currently works as a radiologist in Gainesville,
FL.
She likes to explore a variety of subjects, including landscapes,
abstracts, and portraits. Her favorite artistic influences include Caravaggio, John Singer Sargent, and
James McNeill Whistler.
" In my landscapes I try to capture the mood created by
dramatic lighting. Vivid colors, varied textures, and bold brushstrokes predominate in my work. I have found oils to be the most versatile and expressive medium for conveying my ideas. I hope that my work brings out the same emotions in the viewer as I experience while
painting."
